Year 4 Blog: An Exciting Start to Our Greek Topic!
Year 4 have had a fantastic start to the term with a memorable Greek WOW Day! The children were amazed when they met a mysterious visitor who claimed to be from Ancient Greece.
Our special guest shared fascinating stories about life in Ancient Greece, including what people wore, the food they ate, and how children lived thousands of years ago. The children eagerly asked questions and enjoyed learning about this incredible civilisation.
Back in the classroom, we began our maths learning on place value, exploring the value of digits in three and four-digit numbers. The children demonstrated excellent understanding as they represented numbers in different ways and explained their reasoning.
In English, we focused on writing detailed setting descriptions inspired by our exciting visit to find Medusa's Cave. The children used their senses and imagination to create vivid pictures of the eerie cave, describing the dark shadows, jagged rocks and mysterious atmosphere. They worked hard to include powerful adjectives, expanded noun phrases and figurative language to bring their settings to life and make the reader feel as though they were exploring the cave themselves.
It has been a wonderful week of learning, and we are excited to continue our Ancient Greece topic over the coming weeks. We can't wait to share more of our learning journey with you!
Well done, Year 4, for such an enthusiastic and successful start to the year! 🌟
