Class Blog Week Ending 1.5.26

Date: 30th Apr 2026 @ 1:20pm

Year 4 have had a very busy a week working hard across the curriculum and developing a range of new skills. We are proud of their enthusiasm, effort, and positive attitudes to learning.

In Maths, Year 4 have been focusing on fractions. The children learned how fractions represent equal parts of a whole and worked confidently with halves, thirds, quarters and other unit fractions. They practised comparing and ordering fractions using number lines and diagrams and enjoyed finding fractions of amounts through practical activities.

Our reading lessons have encouraged children to explore a variety of fiction and non‑fiction texts. Pupils developed important comprehension skills such as predicting, summarising, and answering questions using evidence from the text. They also discussed characters’ thoughts and feelings, helping to deepen their understanding and enjoyment of reading.

In English, the children wrote diary entries using past tense and emotive language. They carefully described events that had already happened and included thoughts and feelings such as excitement, nervousness, pride, and disappointment. This helped them create more engaging and personal pieces of writing.
