🌟 Year 4 Weekly Learning Blog 🌟

What a fantastic week of learning we have had in Year 4!

➖ Maths – Subtraction

This week, we continued developing our subtraction skills. We practised subtracting 4-digit numbers using formal written methods, including exchanging where needed.  The children showed great perseverance when tackling challenging calculations.

📚 English – Character Profile of Medusa

In English, we continued working on our character profile of Medusa. This week, our focus was on exploring her personality. We discussed whether Medusa should be viewed as frightening, lonely, misunderstood or powerful and found evidence to support our ideas. The children used ambitious vocabulary to describe her character and created detailed descriptions that helped bring Medusa to life for the reader.

🧪 Science – States of Matter: Gases

In Science, we learnt about gases and their properties. We discussed how gases spread out to fill the space around them and how they are different from solids and liquids. Through investigations and discussions, we explored how gases can change state and identified examples of gases that we use in everyday life.

🗳️ School Council Elections

This week, we also took part in electing our School Council Representative. Children interested in the role shared their ideas and explained why they would be a good representative for our class. We then held a democratic vote, learning about the importance of having a voice and making decisions fairly. Congratulations to our newly elected representative, and well done to everyone who took part.
