Year 4 Blog Update 🌟

This term in Year 4, we have been working really hard in maths and English, and we are proud of all the progress we are making!

In maths, we have been learning all about money. We have practised recognising coins and notes, adding amounts together, and working out change. We even had some real-life style challenges where we had to “buy” items and make sure we used the correct amount. This helps us apply maths to everyday life.

We have also been practising our times tables every day as part of the Year 4 objective to recall multiplication and division facts up to 12 × 12.
This is helping us prepare for the Multiplication Tables Check (MTC) in June, where we need to answer questions quickly and accurately.

In English, we explored the story of Boudicca, linking to the Year 4 objective to write for a range of purposes using rich vocabulary and clear structure.
We used this historical text as inspiration to create our own poems about Boudicca, focusing on powerful language, interesting word choices, and clear expression of ideas. We thought carefully about how to engage the reader and bring our writing to life.
