We've had a brilliant week packed with learning, creativity, and a touch of mythology. Here's what we've been up to…
Maths: Subtraction Superstars!
This week in maths, we've been diving deep into subtraction. We've practised using column subtraction and even mental strategies to solve problems.
English: The Tale of Theseus and the Minotaur
In English, we’ve been developing our writing skills so that we can write a retell of a Greek myth based on: Theseus and the Minotaur. We imagined ourselves as brave heroes, sneaking through the twisting tunnels of the labyrinth, facing the fearsome beast, and using clever tricks to escape. We have been using expanded noun phrases, making word banks and using prepositions of time.
History: Discovering Ancient Greece & Democracy
Our history lessons have taken us back in time to Ancient Greece. We’ve explored what life was like in Athens and Sparta, learned about Greek gods and goddesses, and discovered how democracy began.
Did you know that the word democracy comes from the Greek words demos (people) and kratos (power)? That means “power of the people” — and it all started in Athens over 2,500 years ago!
We’re loving our journey through Ancient Greece and can’t wait to share more with you soon. Keep practising those subtraction skills at home — and maybe write your own myth too!
