Year 4 Adventures in Learning: Pop-Up Books, Poetry, and Shapes!

Design & Technology: Pop-Up Books

In DT, the children have been designing and making their very own pop-up books. They started by planning their story, thinking carefully about which parts could “pop” off the page. Using folds, tabs, and levers, pupils have been experimenting with moving parts to make their books come to life. It has been amazing to see their creativity shine—each pop-up book is unique and tells its own exciting story!

English: Exploring Poetry

In English lessons, the focus has been on poetry. Pupils have been exploring different types of poems, learning about rhythm, rhyme, and expressive language. They have been inspired to write their own verses, using vivid words and playful ideas to bring their poems to life.

Maths: Shape Adventures

In Maths, Year 4 have been diving into 2D and 3D shapes. They have explored the properties of shapes, counted edges and vertices, and even hunted for shapes around the classroom and playground. By linking their learning to real-life examples, pupils have developed a deeper understanding of geometry and had lots of hands-on fun with measuring and constructing shapes themselves.

We are so proud of Year 4 for engaging with their learning so enthusiastically across all subjects.
