Minibeast Houses

Date: 2nd Dec 2020 @ 12:37am

This half term the children have been learning all about habitats and in particular microhabitats. Last week they made their own bug boxes for the minibeasts in our playground. They worked in groups to collect a mixture of natural materials and other resources they thought would attract bugs. Then they set up the homes in shoesboxes. They used leaves, sticks, grass, rocks, straws, plastic bottles and fruit. The habitats were completed by the children drawing their own minibeasts and adding them to the shoeboxes. Finally they placed the boxes in our playground and now have the job of monitoring them each playtime to see if any real minibeasts move in.
