This Week In Reception (WB 07.07.25)

This week in Reception, we’ve been diving deep into learning with lots of exciting activities across the curriculum!

In English, we explored the magical tale of The Singing Mermaid by Julia Donaldson. The children loved learning about the kind and talented mermaid and the sneaky Sam Sly! We used our phonics knowledge brilliantly to describe both characters, carefully segmenting words and using our sounds to write labels and simple sentences. It was wonderful to see the children applying their Phase 3 and 4 sounds with growing confidence!

In Maths, we focused on odd and even numbers. The children used practical resources to group and sort numbers, learning how to tell if a number is odd or even by seeing if it can be paired. Lots of great number talk and teamwork helped us consolidate this new concept.

This week was also Curriculum Week, and our theme was Under the Sea! The children have been busy creating some truly beautiful artwork, from colourful jellyfish to textured ocean scenes. We can’t wait for you to sea it all on display at our upcoming class gallery – the children are so proud of their creations and can’t wait to share them with you.
