This Week in Reception (WB 1.6.26)

Date: 9th Jun 2026 @ 9:28am

This week in Reception, we have been very busy with our learning and had lots of fun exploring our new topics!

In Literacy, the children enjoyed reading the story The Sun Thief. This lovely story helped us think about summer and what it is like during this season. We talked about the different things that happen in summer, such as the sun setting later in the evening, bright sunny days, and the warm, hot weather. The children also shared their ideas about where people might go during the summer. Many of them talked about going to the beach! We discussed what we might find there, including ice cream, sandcastles, and the sea. The children loved sharing their own experiences and ideas.

In Maths, we focused on number bonds to 10. The children used colourful cubes and egg boxes to help them explore how different numbers can be combined to make 10. This hands-on activity helped the children visualise the concept and practice their counting and problem-solving skills in a fun and engaging way.

In KUW, we continued learning about summer. The children discussed what they might see outside during this season, such as sunshine, flowers, and people enjoying time outdoors. It was wonderful to hear their ideas and observations about the world around them.

Well done to all the children for their fantastic effort this week!
