This Week In Reception (WB 30.06.25)
Date: 3rd Jul 2025 @ 10:24am
What a fun and busy week we've had in Reception!
In English, we dived into the wonderful world of Commotion in the Ocean. The children loved listening to the rhyming words in the story and had great fun identifying the rhymes as we read together. We then used our phonics skills to write sentences more independently, describing the different sea creatures from the book. It was fantastic to see the children using their sounds so confidently and creatively in their writing.
In Maths, we explored grouping and sharing numbers equally. Using practical resources like counters and toys, the children worked together to make equal groups and started to understand the concept of sharing fairly. This hands-on learning really helped build their number sense and problem-solving skills.
In Understanding the World, we carried out a fun investigation into floating and sinking. The children made predictions about different objects and then tested them in water. There were lots of surprised faces and great discussions about why some objects float while others sink. It was a brilliant way to spark curiosity and develop early scientific thinking.
Well done to all our Reception learners for another fantastic week of exploring, learning, and growing!
