This Week in Reception (WB 6.7.26)

What an exciting and busy week we have had in Reception!

We have continued our learning about sea creatures and the children have loved finding out even more fascinating facts about life under the sea. As part of our learning, the children have been writing facts about their favourite sea creatures. We have been so impressed with their growing confidence in writing and their ability to recall and share information they have learned. From sharks and dolphins to octopuses and turtles, the children have produced some fantastic work!

In maths, we have been learning about odd and even numbers. We have used Numicon to help us identify odd and even numbers, learning that even numbers have a "flat top" because all the holes can be paired, whereas odd numbers always have one left over. We have enjoyed lots of practical activities, including sorting numbers, making odd and even patterns, and exploring odd and even house numbers on streets by looking at the odd side and the even side.

This week was also our exciting Curriculum Week, which was linked to the World Cup. Class 1 focused on the USA and Class 2 focused on Croatia. The children enjoyed learning about their country's culture and football teams. We created player profiles, designed and made flags, and even made our very own World Cup trophy! The week was filled with lots of fun sporting activities, including our fantastic Sports Day, where the children demonstrated great determination, teamwork and enthusiasm.

We are incredibly proud of all the children's hard work this week and the positive attitudes they have shown in all of their learning. Well done, Reception!
