This Week In Year 1 (WB 02.11.26)

Date: 5th Nov 2026 @ 7:21pm

Welcome back! 😊 We hope you all had a lovely half-term break and enjoyed spending time with family and friends. The children have had an exciting first week back and have settled brilliantly into their learning. ⭐

📖 English
This week, we have been reading The Somethingosaur. The children have enjoyed retelling parts of the story through drama activities in groups 🎭 and acting out different scenes. We have also been practising creating simple sentences linked to the story ✏️.

🔢 Maths
In Maths, we have been learning about the symbols greater than (>), less than (<) and equal to (=). The children compared different numbers and discussed which numbers were greater than, less than or equal to each other. They worked really hard and showed great understanding! 🌟

🌦️ Science
We have started our new topic, Seasons 🍂☀️🌷❄️. The children have been learning about different types of weather and discussing how the weather changes throughout the year.

🦖 History
We had a fantastic WOW starter to launch our dinosaur topic! The children were excited to welcome a special dinosaur visitor 🦕. They took part in fossil excavations ⛏️, learnt about herbivores and carnivores, and even met a baby T-Rex and a baby Triceratops! It was a memorable and exciting way to begin our learning.

💛 PSHE
In PSHE, we explored our feelings and talked about what makes us feel happy 😊 and sad 😔. The children shared their ideas thoughtfully and discussed ways that we can support one another.

Bonfire Night 🎆

We also learnt about and created some wonderful bonfire pictures 🎨.

✨ It has been a fantastic, fun-filled week and we are so proud of how well the children have settled back into school. We can't wait for another week of exciting learning! ✨
