Year 1 Weekly Blog – A Dino-Tastic, Festive Week!
What a wonderfully busy week we’ve had in Year 1! Our classroom has been bursting with learning, laughter and lots of festive fun.
In English, we continued our exciting topic on dinosaurs. The children have been using their brilliant phonics skills to write fantastic dinosaur facts during continuous provision. We were so impressed with the way they sounded out word to help them write like real palaeontologists!
In Maths, we have been practising counting in 2s and exploring our 2 times table. The children enjoyed using practical resources to count in two's and work out simple multiplications.
We’ve also been very busy getting ready for our Christmas Cracker performance. The children have been practising their song beautifully, and we can’t wait for you to see them shine on Monday.
One of the highlights of the week was making our super fun reindeer hats ready to meet Santa. The children looked fantastic, and Santa was so impressed that he gave everyone a little gift—such a magical moment!
To top off our week, we went to the Pantomime, where the children had an amazing time joining in with the laughs, songs and excitement. It was a wonderful experience full of joy and awe.
It has been a busy week, but one filled with fun, learning and lots of core memory moments. Well done, Year 1—we are so proud of you! 🎄✨
