This Week In Year 1 (WB 14.09.26)

Date: 15th Sep 2026 @ 2:59pm

We have had another fantastic week of learning in Year 1! 😊

πŸ“š English

This week we have been reading You Choose and discussing what it means to make choices. We talked about why different people might choose different things and shared our own ideas. The children then drew their favourite house from the story and wrote a simple sentence using "It is..." or "It has..." to describe it. 🏠✏️

πŸ”’ Maths

In Maths, we have been ordering numbers to 20 and developing our understanding of one more and one less. The children enjoyed using practical resources and discussing their ideas with their classmates. πŸ”’

πŸ—ΊοΈ Topic

In Topic, we have continued learning about our local area. We identified different places such as parks 🌳, shops πŸͺ, houses 🏑, mosques πŸ•Œ and churches β›ͺ. We also began exploring the difference between human features and physical features.

🧍 Science

In Science, we started our new topic on the human body and learned to identify and name different body parts.

❀️ RE

This week in RE, we learned about the difference between special places and sacred places. The children discussed places that are special to them and explored why some places are considered sacred by people of different faiths. We shared our ideas respectfully and thought about why these places are important to those who visit them

πŸ‘« PSHE

In PSHE, we explored the importance of rules and talked about how they help to keep us safe, happy and ready to learn. βœ…

πŸ’» Computing

The children have been developing their basic iPad skills and learning how to use technology carefully and responsibly. πŸ“±
