This Week In Year 1 (WB 16.03.26)

Date: 19th Mar 2026 @ 9:31am

This week in Year 1, we have been working very hard across all of our subjects and have enjoyed lots of exciting learning.

In English, we continued exploring the story Tell Me a Dragon. We chose our favourite dragon from the story and practised describing it using one or two adjectives. We also worked on joining our ideas together using the conjunction “and” to make our sentences longer and more interesting.

In Maths, we have been learning about weight. We explored which objects are heavier or lighter and compared different items. We also investigated how many cubes weigh the same as an object, helping us to understand measuring in a practical and fun way.

In Science, we have been learning how to categorise animals. We sorted animals into carnivores, herbivores and omnivores, and talked about what different animals eat.

In History, we continued our learning about castles. We looked at how castles have changed over time and discussed why these changes were important to make them stronger and better fortresses.

We also enjoyed a creative activity this week, where we made Eid cards. We printed star and moon shapes and added glitter to make them bright and special.

Homework: Please continue to read at home and complete your activities on Purple Mash.

Well done to everyone for a fantastic week of learning!

Have a fantastic Eid... See you on Monday!
