This Week In Year 1 (WB 18.05.26)
Date: 20th May 2026 @ 5:14pm
What a fantastic and busy week we have had in Year 1! π
In English π, we have continued exploring The Ugly Five and have been learning how to describe different animals using exciting adjectives. We also began learning about acrostic poems and worked together as a class to create a poem for AFRICA π, linking perfectly with our Geography learning.
In Maths β°, we have been learning all about time! We have focused on recognising and reading o’clock and half past times.
In Science π±π³, we compared plants and trees and created some beautiful observational artwork of real flowers πΈ for our fantastic finish. The classroom looked amazing!
In Geography πΊοΈ, we have been comparing Africa and the UK, thinking carefully about the similarities and differences between the two places.
We have also had lots of fun making lovely Eid cards πβ¨ this week.
Over the half term, please continue to practise phonics sounds and reading every day π ready for the Phonics Screening Check (PSC) which will take place during the week beginning 8th June.
β After half term, our Pledge Point assemblies will take place every Friday at 2:40pm. We will let you know if your child is receiving a reward — but remember to keep it a surprise! π€«π
π PE days after half term:
- Class 3: Tuesday & Friday
- Class 4: Monday & Friday
We hope you all have a wonderful and restful half term holiday βοΈπ¦ and we look forward to welcoming everyone back on Tuesday 2nd June 2026!
