This Week In Year 1 (WB 20.04.26)

Date: 22nd Apr 2026 @ 2:12pm

This week in Year 1, we have had another busy and exciting time in our learning!

In English, we have continued exploring the story Meerkat Mail. The children focused on Sunny’s feelings throughout the story and practised writing sentences to describe how he might be feeling at different points.

In Maths, we have been working on addition, with a focus on missing number problems and using number lines to help us solve them. The children have also been developing their problem-solving skills.

In Science, we have been learning about how plants grow from bulbs and seeds. We discussed what plants need to grow, including water, light, and warmth.

In Geography, we have been learning about Africa and understanding that it is a continent. We have also been identifying and labelling other continents and seas.

In PE, we have been developing our throwing and catching skills through a range of fun activities.
