This week in Year 2...w/b 11.05.26

Date: 12th May 2026 @ 1:22pm

This week, Year 2 pupils in Class 6 have been busy exploring exciting new learning across Maths, English, and Topic!

Maths – Fun with Fractions!
In Maths, the pupils have been learning all about fractions and how to find fractions of different quantities. To kickstart their learning, they played a fun game called “Pass the Bag”, similar to pass the parcel. When the music stopped, one lucky pupil picked a number everyone had two minutes to work out a fraction of that amount using manipulatives. It was a fantastic way to build confidence and make learning hands-on and engaging!

English – A Silly New Story!
This week in English, the class began reading a new book called Grandma’s Seaside Bloomers. The children think the story is very funny, and it has already sparked lots of laughter and discussion. Next Friday, they will be using their ideas to write a character description of the main character – we can’t wait to see their creative writing!

Topic – The Places People Go
As we come to the end of our topic, “The Places People Go,” pupils have been learning about the equator and exploring where hot and cold climates are located on the map. They’ve enjoyed discovering how different parts of the world experience different weather conditions.

Well done Year 2 for another fantastic week of learning!
