W/c 07.09.2026 This Week in Year 2

We have had a wonderful first full week back at school and the children have settled in brilliantly. It has been lovely to hear all about their summer holidays and the class enjoyed sharing their news and listening to each other's exciting adventures.

This week we have been getting used to our new classroom meeting new friends and learning our new routines. The children have shown great enthusiasm and have worked hard to adapt to all the changes that come with a new school yet we have been very impressed with how the children have approached their learning particularly during our rainbow challenges they are beginning to take greater ownership in their learning making thoughtful choices and showing increasing independence in their work.

In Maths the children thoroughly enjoyed taking part and a range of hands on activities which helps them explore new concepts in a fun and engaging way. It has been wonderful to see so much enthusiasm and confidence during our practical learning.

We also had lots of fun bringing our class story 'The Big Bad Owl' to life through drama and role-play acting out different parts of the story helped the children to develop their understanding of the characters and events while building their confidence and creativity.

Finally a huge thank you to all the parents who attended our meet the teacher meeting this week. it was lovely to see so many of you there we really appreciate your support as we begin an exciting year together in Year 2!
