w/c 12.01.2026 This week in Year 2!

Date: 16th Jan 2026 @ 2:38pm

This week in class we enjoyed a reading comprehension lesson based on the story Making Lemonade. We talked about the key features of a recipe, such as ingredients and instructions, and explored new vocabulary linked to food and cooking. The children showed great understanding and were able to explain why recipes are written the way they are.

The highlight of the lesson was, of course, making the lemonade ourselves! Everyone was excited to mix the ingredients and taste the final result. Some children thought the lemonade was a little too sour at first, which led to a great discussion about personal taste and how recipes can be adjusted. After taking a class vote, the children decided that they actually preferred the lemonade to the mango lassi we made last week.

A fun, hands-on lesson that combined reading, speaking, and tasting — learning has never been so refreshing! 😊
