What a busy and exciting week we’ve had in Year 2!

In English, the children have been enjoying 'The Jungle Book'. We’ve spent time getting to know the characters and exploring the beginning of the story in detail. The children have shared some fantastic ideas and predictions, and we’re very excited to begin writing our own alternative endings next week. Lots of creativity is already bubbling!

In Maths, we have been focusing on subtraction. The children have been practising partitioning numbers and learning how to use the semi-formal method to help them solve subtraction problems confidently. It’s been great to see their understanding grow and their confidence improve.

Our Science lessons have been all about the properties of materials. The children have been investigating different materials and discussing what they are like and why they are suitable for certain uses.

In Reading Comprehension, we read 'Going Batty'. The children worked hard to answer questions about the text and showed excellent thinking skills. We also explored the meaning of the phrase “once in a blue moon”, learning that it means something that doesn’t happen very often!

Finally, thank you for attending the Year 2 Space Race Assembly on Tuesday. The children absolutely loved seeing you there and were so proud to share their learning with you.
