Our Wonderful Trip to Oldham Gallery and Library
We had a great morning visiting Oldham Gallery and Library! We were very excited to explore and learn something new.

First, we looked closely at a painting by Sarah Bradbury. The painting showed Blackpool in the past. We became art detectives and searched for different features in the picture. We spotted bathing huts, a pier and even a Ferris wheel! We talked about what people did at the seaside long ago and how it might be different today.

Next, we explored the picture in more detail and had a go at drawing what we could see. We worked really carefully to include the different shapes and features. After that, we got creative and made textured seashells, using different materials to make them feel bumpy and interesting—just like real shells!

To finish our visit, we made our own fantastic pop-up suitcase artwork. We filled our suitcases with everything we had learnt about the seaside, including drawings, ideas and designs inspired by the painting.

We had so much fun and learnt lots about art and the seaside. It was a brilliant trip!
