Week beginning 23.02.2026
Date: 25th Feb 2026 @ 1:47pm
This week in Year 6, we’ve been using our iPads to explore an important topic: refugees. Our aim has been to understand who refugees are, why people sometimes have to leave their homes, and what challenges they face on their journeys.
Working in pairs and small groups, we used trusted websites to gather more information. We learned about the difference between refugees and migrants, discovered real-life stories from children around the world and explored how charities and countries support people seeking safety.
As we researched, we collected notes, key vocabulary, and interesting facts and worked in pairs to create a research poster. All of this information will help us write our own non-chronological reports about refugees. These reports will explain the topic clearly, using subheadings, technical vocabulary and the facts we’ve gathered.
It’s been inspiring to see how thoughtfully everyone has approached this topic. We’re looking forward to turning our research into informative and powerful writing that helps others understand the experiences of refugees.
