🌟 Year 1 Class Blog – What a Fantastic Week! 🌟
We have had a really busy and exciting week in Year 1!
English
In English, we have been writing an alternative version of The Queen’s Hat. We used time adverbials (such as first, next and later) and conjunctions to join our ideas. We also enjoyed writing about different landmarks in London, linking beautifully with our learning about the UK.
Maths
In Maths, we have been adding using a number line. We had great fun asking our class elephant to jump forwards along the number line to help us add two numbers together. The children were very engaged and worked hard!
PSHE
This week in PSHE, we learned all about sun safety and how we can keep ourselves safe in the sun all year round, not just in summer.
RE
In RE, we learned about the Parable of the Good Samaritan. We also interviewed a Christian to find out how Christians care for each other, which helped us understand kindness and helping others.
Wider Curriculum
We have enjoyed tasting scones and jam, thinking about British traditions. In Geography, we found Oldham on a map of the UK, developing our map-reading skills.
We really have had a great week – the children have been enthusiastic and eager to learn.
Thank you, as always, for your continued support.
