🌟 Year 1 Class Blog – Weekly Update! 🌟

What a wonderful week we’ve had in Year 1!

📚 Literacy
This week we enjoyed reading The Somethingosaur! The children worked hard to write their own character descriptions, using fantastic adjectives to describe the Somethingosaur’s appearance and personality. We were so impressed with their imaginative ideas!

âž– Maths
In Maths, we have been learning all about subtraction. The children practised crossing out to help them solve subtraction problems and showed great perseverance.

🌦 Science
Our Science learning took us through the seasons as we explored different types of weather. The class had brilliant discussions about how weather changes throughout the year.

🦕 Topic
In Topic, we looked at a timeline and learned where dinosaurs fit into history. The children loved placing different dinosaurs in the correct time periods!

🔤 Phonics
This week’s phonics focus was on split digraphs. They can be tricky, but Year 1 have been working incredibly hard—well done, everyone!

🎭 Assembly Practice
The children have also been practising enthusiastically for their class assembly. We can’t wait to share their hard work with you!

📌 Reminders

  • Homework is due on Wednesday.

  • Please read with your child every week.

  • Our class assembly will take place on Tuesday 25th November at 9am in the main hall. We hope to see you there!

Wishing you all a lovely weekend,
