🌟 Year 1 Class Blog 🌟
What a wonderfully busy week it has been in Year 1! This week was assessment week, and the children have worked incredibly hard. They should all feel very proud of what they have achieved — we certainly are!
In our learning, we have been diving into the exciting world of dinosaurs. We explored four fascinating favourites: Triceratops, Stegosaurus, T-Rex, and Spinosaurus. The children have been learning the new vocabulary ‘herbivore’ and ‘carnivore’, and have enjoyed using these words in their dinosaur writing throughout the week.
The children also completed their phonics assessments, and the Year 1 staff are delighted with the fantastic progress they have made.
One of the highlights of our week was the school fair. We had a wonderful time, especially enjoying the delicious hot chocolates! Thank you to everyone who supported the event by sending in donations, attending, or purchasing items — it really means a lot.
A gentle reminder to please complete your homework on Purple Mash. Homework is set every Friday and should be completed by the following Wednesday. Please also remember to read with your child each night (or as often as you can) and sign their reading record.
Thank you to all the parents who have already paid for the pantomime. If you haven’t yet sent the payment in, please do so as soon as possible.
A huge well done to Year 1 for their hard work, enthusiasm, and brilliant attitude this week. We are very proud of you all!
