Year 1 Weekly Blog 🌟
Year 1 have had a very busy and exciting week!
We were incredibly proud of the children during our ‘Christmas Cracker’ performance. They sang beautifully and showed so much confidence on stage. Thank you so much to all the parents and carers who supported their children at home by practising the songs and who came along to watch and cheer them on — your support means so much.
In Design and Technology, the children completed their topic on designing and making a fruit kebab. They carefully designed their kebabs to make sure they were healthy, delicious and colourful, and they loved creating and tasting their final designs.
In Maths, we have been learning all about 2D and 3D shapes. Perhaps you could have a go at spotting different shapes around your home over the holidays!
Our English work has been based on the story Little Robin Red Vest. The children enjoyed drawing and creating their own robins and writing sentences to describe them. Did you know that Year 1 children can now add adjectives to their sentences and even extend their sentences using conjunctions? We are so proud of their progress.
On Thursday, we had our Fantastic Finish for our dinosaur topic. The children had a brilliant time, and we would like to say a big thank you to the parents who were able to come and support this event.
Home learning has been set for over the holidays.
We hope you all have a wonderful two-week holiday. Merry Christmas to all of our families who are celebrating. We can’t wait to see you all again in the new year!
