Year 1 Weekly Blog:
Year 1 have had a wonderful week!
In English, we have been learning all about The King’s Pants by Nicholas Allan. The children have loved retelling the story using a range of drama activities, which really helped to bring the story to life.
We have continued with our Art project, learning about the sculptor Henry Moore and creating our own sculptures. We are very excited to share these with parents at our Fantastic Finish next Thursday.
In Maths, we have been learning about fractions, focusing on finding half of shapes and quantities.
Class 4 have really enjoyed RE, where they have been learning about Sikhism and how Sikh people care for each other.
In Science, we are continuing our topic on animals and have been concentrating on reptiles this week. The children have been sorting animals using a range of different criteria.
During PSHE, we have been learning about stranger danger and road safety, and the children made some lovely posters.
In our Topic, we are continuing to learn about landmarks in the UK, exploring famous places and finding out why they are special.
Class 3 and Class 4 continue to enjoy their continuous provision, learning well in the areas and completing their learning jobs. Year 1 have also been busy drawing ladybirds this week — can your child draw a ladybird for you at home?
In PE, we have been enjoying gymnastics. This week we completed a full routine and performed it for our friends — we were very proud of everyone!
