Class 4: Blog items
Date: 25th Jun 2021 @ 7:00pm
In PSHE lessons this week, Class 4 have been doing life cycles. The lesson helped the children to start to understand the life cycles of animals and humans and changes that happen as we grow. We played the game ‘Find your pair’ where children had a picture card and they had to find their pair for example, the baby kitten and the adult cat were a pair. The children discussed the changes the pairs went through to become adults. The children also worked together to sort the life cycles of the butterfly and the frog.
In the Reflection Puzzle Piece children drew a picture of one thing they liked about being their current age and completed their sentence: ‘When I grow up, I want to be...’ It was great to see that many of the children were very creative with what they wanted to be.

This week in Maths, Class 4 has been busy looking at volume. We have been comparing different liquid amounts and later went onto measuring and recording.
We developed our skills of using measuring cylinders and measuring jugs to measure different amounts of liquid.
To finish off the week we followed a recipe to make a magical potion for Rapunzel to quickly grow her hair so that she could escape from the tower.

This week was curriculum week, in which we looked at different ways in which technology could make our futures look very different.
Class 4 have worked hard to design futuristic sports goggles and shoes. Some designs had self-tying laces and used a shift wear app to change its design to match the outfit. We have also been busy in the computer room, designing cars that are linked to our moods. To finish off the week, we used junk modelling to make our dream bedrooms of the future. Some of our bedrooms had smart windows that would change the colour of the walls and carpet when we wanted. We also had smart wardrobes that would show us what our outfits would look like without us having to try anything on.

In Cass 4 this week, we have been learning how to tell the time. We started by quickly recapping o’clock and half past. We then learnt how to tell the time using quarter past and quarter to. We had great time using clocks to tell the time and even made a clock of our own.
The Y1 Eco Councillors have also been busy this week with weeding the Y1 planter and planting seeds. The children have been trying for the past few weeks to plant their seeds but the rainy weather had made it difficult. We will be watching eagerly over the coming weeks to see what our flowers will look like.

This week in Class 4, we have been developing our ICT Skills. We used 2Publish to create fact sheets about famous landmarks in London. We used our fine motor skills to control the mouse and draw pictures of the landmarks. Then we named the landmarks and wrote facts about them.
Later, we further developed our skills using Scratch Junior. We choose different backgrounds and characters and programmed them to move around the screen. We had so much fun doing this that time flew by quickly and before we knew it, it was time to go home.

This week in C4, our assembly focused on the month of Ramadan. We looked at why Muslims fast and what we learn during this month. We also recapped on the five pillars of Islam, to see which we could remember.
We have been busy making Eid cards to give to our friends and family. We decorated Islamic patterns and used them to decorate our cards. The bright array of cards looked fantastic, and we hope you enjoyed receiving them.
We ended the week with an Eid party to mark the end of Ramadan. We dressed up in our best clothes and had great fun playing different party games.

This week in Class 4, we have had a great time exploring magnets in Science. We began by looking at what a magnet is and what it does.
Looking at a range of different objects, we sorted them into magnetic and non-magnetic objects. The magnetic objects would stick to the magnet and the non-magnets one would not.
Were first thought that all metal objects would be magnetic but we were surprised to find out that only some metals are magnetic.
We had a great time going around the classroom trying to find different magnetic and non-magnetic objects.

This week in PSHE, Class 4 has been looking at what makes a good friend.
We looked at our best friends and discussed what we really like about them.
Some of the things that Class 4 likes about their friends are that they are,
- Good listeners
- Someone who is kind
- Someone who they can share things with
- Someone who makes them smile and be happy
- Someone who is honest
We are proud to say that Class 4 are very good friends with each other and we love the way they value their friendships.
It's raining money and hats in Class 4.
Date: 26th Mar 2021 @ 9:01pm
This week Class 4 have been busy learning about money. We began the week with identifying all the different coins we have. Later in the week, we used plastic coins the work out the cost of buying objects.
Many members of Class 4 and their parents have been busy this week making hats for today’s charity event. It was to raise money for The Brain Tumour Research Charity. We would like to say a big thank you to all the parents for helping their children with the hats. Also, a big thank you for your generous donations. Your children looked fantastic.
All the hats were prize winning standard but we were only allowed to choose one per class. For Class 4, we would like to say well done to Safah for being chosen as the winner. Such a clever and creative hat! Well done.

Class 4 have had a fun filled week, from acting out the story ‘Toby and the Great Fire of London’ to creating our own bakery in the classroom.
In DT this week, we have been very busy. To begin with, we designed biscuits, thinking about the shape and the different toppings we could use.
Later in the week, we followed the instructions of a simple recipe to make biscuits. After baking them, we decorated them with different toppings.
The finished product was so temping that many of the biscuits were gobbled up within minutes by the children. However, some managed to resists the temptation and waited to take their biscuits home to enjoy in the comfort of their own home.
Well done Class 4, we hope you enjoyed your biscuits.
Date: 13th Mar 2021 @ 9:00am
It has been fantastic to have all the children back in class, we have missed them so much.
In Class 4, we have been learning all about trees in our science lessons. We learnt two long and difficult words this week. ‘Evergreen’ and ‘Deciduous’ trees. We have looked at their features and how they are different. We have also been naming and grouping different trees.
For our shared read this week, Class 4 read the book 'Biscuit Bear' by Mini Grey. We enjoyed finding out about what Biscuit Bear got up to in the middle of the night.
We ended the week by making some very special flowery cards, for a very special person.
‘Mum’s the word.’

This week in Class 4 we have had a great time taking apart in Christmas fun and games. We had our Christmas party, where the children came dressed in their favourite Christmas jumpers of all shapes and sizes. We wore our reindeer party hats and got to use our Christmas place mats.
Santa coming to visit our classroom was such an exciting moment. He was so jolly and happy that we decided to make our own Santa Christmas cards for our parents. We hope you liked them!
On party day, we played many games such as pass the parcel and musical statues. Many children managed to win a prize.
We have finally come to the end of a hard working term. We would like to wish all our parents a fantastic Christmas break. Thank you for all your help and support this term and we hope to see you all back in January.
Date: 12th Dec 2020 @ 2:25pm
C4 have been in festive spirits all week long in preparation for our lovely Christmas performances.
The children carefully used their cutting skills to make their reindeer hats and added a splash of glitter here and there to give it that sparkling Christmas touch.
They also had a great time learning the words to their song and practising the dance steps and actions. Turning left and turning right, going up and then down.
It was a proud moment for us when the children managed to sing, dance and balance their hats for their performance. It was a joy and a pleasure to watch. We are sure that you will enjoy watching it just as much as we did.
Well done Class 4!
Date: 4th Dec 2020 @ 7:00pm
This week, C4 have been excited to explore 3D shapes. Not only have they been able to name the shapes but they have been on a shape hunt, trying to find 3D objects around the classroom. It would be fantastic if they now went on a 3D shape hunt at home.
We were amazed by the way in which the children worked together to create their own 3D shapes using plasticine and toothpicks. It wasn’t a task to be rushed. Those that took their time, worked well with their partners and created their shapes using small steps, where successful in building their pyramids and cuboids.
