This week in Year 3 (05/12/2025)

Year 3 have worked so incredibly hard during assessment week and have been doing their Maths and Reading assessments. Make sure that you give your child a huge well done and pat on the back to congratulate them for their hard work and effort- we are so proud and impressed of the progress that they have all made. 

We are continuing our learning on Light and the Stone Age and Year 3 have engaged so well with these topics. We have loved to see the home learning that has come in and we would love to carry on seeing how you are carrying on their learning at home.

 

It will be our Year 3 assembly on Wednesday 10th December 2025 at 9:05, please come and see your child's contributions. We are so excited to present to you!

This week in Class 8…

This week Class 8 have loved their experiment in Science all about reflection. We used torches to test different materials to see which materials are the most reflective. We concluded that soft, smooth surfaces are the most reflective such as foil and a mirror. #ExpertLearnersIMG_3886.jpeg

This week in Year 3 (14/11/2025)

We have had an amzing week of learning and we are so impressed by the writing this week. The children have written retells of the story of 'Stone Age Boy' and they blew us away with all of their learning. Well done! We have also had a fantastic week in PE, where Class 8 have really progressed their swimming and Class 7 have been learning more parts of our Stone Age dance... we are excited to show this to you in our Year Group Assembly.Well Done Stock Illustrations – 7,201 Well Done Stock Illustrations,  Vectors & Clipart - Dreamstime 

This week in Year 3 (07/11/2025)

We have had an amazing week in Year 3 by kickstarting our new History topic, 'The Stone Age'. We have been reading 'Stone Age Boy' and the children have loved learning about this enthralling and entertaining story. Make sure to ask  your child what they have learnt about Stone Age life from this story, including what Stone Age people wore, ate and did to survive. 

We also had our 'WOW Starter' afternoons where we learnt about Stone Age animals, made cave paintings, explored rocks and stones and even carved some Stone Age tools out of soap. We had an amazing and fun afternoon and we are all ready excited to start learning more about Stone Age life.  

 

Please check the home learning for the 'Topic' homework to be done over the course of the whole half term. We would love to see what you create at home and to show it off in school.

24.10.25 This week in Class 8

This week, Class 8 have been learning about The Colour Monster and zones of regulations. We have written letters to the Colour Monster explaining how to stay in the Green Zone. We also made a comic strip showing the COlour Monster moving through each zone. 

On Friday, we celebrating Black History Month and focused on a famous black trumpeter from the Tudors named John Blanke. We researched facts, wrote a description and created the famous Tournament Roll using collage.

This week, Class 8 have been trying different fruits and vegetables to choose which ingredients to put into their salad next week. Last week Class 8 enjoyed their WOW afternoon to the Egpytians. We 'mummified' dolls, painted an egyptian headdress, wrote our name in hieroglyphics and researched facts about Ancient Egypt. Well done Class 8!IMG_2576.jpegIMG_2578.jpeg

This week in Class 8

This week we have been looking at different methods of subtraction. We have used the semi formal method and the column method. We have also used dienes practically, drawn dienes pictorially and used bridging with column subtraction. Class 8 have worked well in a team this week, well done!

This week in Class 8

Class 8 have done some amazing learning this week. They have used the trundle wheel to measure in metres in maths, performed poems with body percussion and instruments and have taken part in our diversity and inclusion curriculum week. Thinking about how we are all different but the importance to all be included. We have also have had  Dexter join our learning this week. Well done Class 8!

This week Class 8 have been finding 4 figure grid reference points in our Geography lessons. They have also used all their knowledge of our Great Britain topic to produce a non - chronolgical report in Literacy. In maths they have recognised the value of coins and notes and have been making amounts. Well done Class 8 for a fantastic week of learning!

... been looking at the properties of 3D shapes in maths. They have named the properties and identified different angles in the shapes. In literacy, Class 8 have produced a non - chronological report all about The Mayans. They have included all the features and made it eye catching to the audience. Class 8 have also done some DT this week. They have planned, designed and created chocolate bars inspired from our Mayan topic this half term. Stone Age WOW afternoon

Class 8 have enjoyed our WOW afternoon of the Stone Age this week. They researched of different time periods, carved tools from soap and created their own cave paintings.

Class 8 have worked incredibly hard this week to write their alternative endings to Harry and the Jaggedy Daggers. They have been very creative and used a range of features in their writing and their handwriting and spelling is improving massively. Well done Class 8! IMG_1241.jpeg

DT Curriculum Week

Mayan WOW afternoon

This week Class 8 took part in our WOW afternoon to introduce our topic of The Mayans. They all tried different chocolate and tasted Xcolatol, the special chocolate drink the Mayans would drink. Class 8 enjoyed our WOW afternoons last week to introduce them to our new topic. They researched volcanoes and how to stay safe during an Earthquake for our Topic learning. Anicient Egypt WOW Afternoon

This week we have introduced our new topic Anicient Egypt. The children took part in a WOW afternoon where they researched the Egyptian Gods, wrote their name in hieroglyphs, observed and drew different artefacts, created headdresses and became archaeologists.

 

 

 

Introduction to Stone Age

This week Class 8 have enjoyed our introduction to our new history topic The Stone Age. We have enjoyed soap carving, creating cave paintings and researching on our iPads about the Stone Age. In English we have been reading Stone Age Boy and have produced some fantastic pieces of writing retelling the story.

Great Britain Non Chronological report

This week Class 8 have been using the IPads to find facts about Great Britain. They made posters to display their facts and have written a non - chronological report on Great Britain for their big write. Well done Class 8!

Introducing the iPads!

This week in year three we have introduced the iPads that we will be able to take home.

We have been very excited to learn all about our iPads and how to keep them safe.

We have all made a promise to our teachers that we will look after our iPad and use it for our learning in school and for homework outside of school.

We cannot wait to be able to take them home with us next week!

Class 8 continued their learning on the Mayan civilisation this week by using their iPads to find out facts about the Mayan writing system. They loved finding out about all the different sounds and symbols they used.
