The Learning Base 2: Blog items

During Literacy this week the children have enjoyed learning about 'the divers pobble picture'.
They talked to their partner about what they could see.
They used the CIP words to describe the picture.
They they wrote words to describe what they could see in the picture - divers, sea, goggles, wetsuit etc
During Maths this week the children have been looking at length and height.
They have compared objects according to length and height and have used non standard measures to see how long or tall the objects were.
Citizenship learning - wk end - 21/10/21

The children in the Learning Base have had a fantastic week learning all about Citizenship. The children started by watching a news report about ;Pollution'. They discussed how pollution, especially plastic pollution affects the mammals that live in the sea.
They produced a 'Stop polluting our sea' poster.
They read the book 'We are all born free', which talks about the rights of all people.
The children look at the right to have friends and produced a lovely art piece. They made a hand print with their friend and drew what they do together on a heart.
They wrote a letter to Mr.Hughes thanking him for the books that he provided every child at Greenhill with.
The children in the learning bases are putting all their fantastic learning on display. We will add a photo of the learning in the gallery for you to see.

The children have done fantastic learning about the 'Arctic'. They have looked at the pobble pictures and spoke about what they could see. They have used CIP words to describe the pictures. They then read different sentences to desribe the pictures.
The children have shared books, read sentences and wrote mini books.

The children have used the pobble picture 'polar bears on the snow and ice'.
They described what the polar were doing and where they were going.
They read Concepts in Print words and made them into sentences.

The children in Learning Base 2 have had a fantastic week.
They have decorated hundreds of biscuits to sell to raise money for new resources.
The children are working together to decide what to buy for their classroom to support their learning.

This week the children have been raising money for school funds by decorating biscuits.
The children read the orders from the different classes and counted how many packs of biscuits they needed to make.
The children decorated and sold over 350 biscuits and raised £100.

The children had an amazing first week in the base. They came back into school ready to learn and demonstrated this through the work they did. They told each other what they had done in the holidays and asked and answered questions. I think they were all glad to be back at school to see all their friends.

They told their 'talk partner' what they could see in the picture.
They watched a video of 'men with their huskies' in the Antarctic.
They also drew 'the man on the ice' pobble picture using 2 simple on the computer.

As the children in Learning Base 2 will be in the same classroom in September, they have looked at their classroom setting and displays and decided how they would like to adapt and improve it.
Ask your child what fantastic ideas they had to further improve their classroom.
Ask your child what buildings they wanted to see on the writing working wall.

The children looked at the pobble picture ' the elephant with the suitcase'.
The children decided what they would have in their suitcase in they went on holiday or travelled somewhere. They drew the objects abd wrote the name of the object.
In maths, the children recapped on o'clock times and learnt to tell 1/2 past times.

The children have done some lovely social learning this week. They are all developing in their social interaction and communication skills with each other. The children throughout the week are helping each other, sharing the resources and starting to consider each others point of view and ideas.

The children in Learning Base 2 have had a lovely week of learning.
In Maths, the children have been learning about length and height. They selected equipment from within the classroom and measured it using a ruler.
In Literacy, the children have been talking about the 'giraffe' picture. They drew a picture of where they would take the giraffe.

This week in Learning Base 2, the children have looked at 'how technology can improve our lives in the future.
They watched clips of robots helping in the home and designed their own robot.
They then used chatty pics to bring their robot to life.
