The children have been learning about money
They identified all the coins - 1p, 2p, 5p, 10p, 20p, 50p, £1 and £2.
They then looked at buying objects.
First we started to buy the objects with 1p's and then went onto looking at how many 1p's were in 2p, 5p and 10p.
The children then started to add 2 objects together and found the total amount in pence.
7.10.22 - Going to school in Bangladesh

During Literacy, the children have been looking at
- How do the children get to school in Bangladesh?
- What type of school is it?
- What do they learn at school?
We talked about which school the children would prefer.
On poetry day on Friday, during literacy the children wrote an acrostic poem about going to school on a school boat.
During Maths this week, the children have been introduced to money.
PLEASE work with your children this weekend on money
- take them to the shop where you could pay with cah
- play shop with the children using your coins at home

The children in learning base 2 have had a very productive week. In Literacy, the children looked at the pobble picture 'Going to school in Pakistan' that was introduced last week.
They spoke about -
What does the school looks like in Pakistan?
What do the children learn in school?
What does the classsroom looks like in Pakistan?
The children had to then decide which school they would like go to and the reason why.
All the childern would like to go to the school in England because it is more fun and the classrooms are exciting.
23.9.22 - Going to school in pakistan

In Literacy the children have been looking at 'children going to school in pakistan.
The children looked at how the children got to school and what they learnt at school.
The children decided that they like the school in England better.
In Maths, the children are continuing with their quantity to numeral. They partitioned a number and then found the correct amount of objects.
They continued to use dienes and numicon to make the amount.
The children started adding 2, 2 digit numbers

During Literacy, the children in the learning base have been looking at 'children coming to school' in England.
They looked at pictures and talked with a partner. they described what they noticed in the pictures.
They watched video clips of what the children wore, what the class looked like and what they learned in class.
They talked about -
How they come to school
who brings them to school
What do they learn in school
During Maths learning, the children have been recognising numerals and finding the correct quantity of objects using different equipment
They also used the numicon and the dienes to count out the correct amount to match the numeral.

The children have all settled back into the Learning base after the summer holidays.
They have spent a lot of their learning time talking to the other children and their friends about what they did in the holidays. Some children went on adventures on a plane and some went on a boat. Lots of adventures were had to lots of different places - water theme parks, dinosaur lands, parks, zoo.
The children all sounded as though they had a fun packed holiday.
Parents, if you have any photos of some of the activities that you did with your child in the school hoildays, could you please send them into school and we will do some work around it.
Do you want to be a Superhero?

This week, the children have been learning all about Superhero's. We were lucky enough to have a visit from a Superhero and enjoyed making our own costumes.
They wrote about their superpowers and designed their costumes.

This week the children have been learning about Robots. They have designed and made their own robots by following instructions and makino choices.
The children also use Communication Inprint to describe their robots.

This week in class, the children have been learning about Haunted houses.
They have focused on the language and words that can be used to describe a haunted house and used this language to write sentences.
The children also used 2Simple to draw their own house and followed instructions in art to draw one using pencils.

The children have loved our topic this term. They have learnt all about 'Space'.
During Literacy the children have looked at pobble pictures which generate lots of talk for writing.
The children then use Inprint to read space words and describe the pobble pictures.
They then write about the pictures using their phonic knowledge.
The children then do their own drawings related to the picture - solar systems, galazy, space, space travel etc.
During topic learning the children have looked at lots of different aspects related to space - space travel to different planets, who goes to space? why do they go to space?
The children have thoroughly enjoyed the topic and made an assembly all about it.

The children were full of the joys of Spring watching the daffodils and crocus sprout in the Spring sun.
The children observed and talked about the flowers.
They then created observational drawings, paintings and collage of the daffodils.
We have been talking about the typical weather and that one day it was glorious sunshine and warm and the next day we had rain, sleet and snow. At least the children get to see the full range of weather conditions.
LB2 learning - week ending - 25.3.22

The children have continued with their maths learning all about 'Weight'.
They recapped the previous weeks learning, holding and feeling the weight of different objects and saying which was the heaviest and which the lightest.
They then weighed the objects on the balance scales saying which was the heaviest and which was the lightest.
Learning - week ending 18th March 2022

The children in Learning Base 2 have been learning about weight this week.
The children held 2 different objects and to compare the weights saying which was the heaviest and which was the lightest.
The children compared lots of different objects. They then used balance scales to check if they were right.
They then weighed the different objects by placing on one side of the scales and placing cubes on the other side to balance it.
They counted how much each object weighed.

The children have had an amazing 'Reading' week in Learning Base 2.
The children have fund raised money to purchase new reading books.
They have enjoyed reading the new books.
They want to raise more money to be able to buy more reading materials.

The children in Learning Base 2 are continuing with the topic 'Space' this half term.
Last half term they looked at and named the planets, looked at the milky way and galaxies, talked about how 'astronauts' get to the different planets and what they do when they land on the different planets.
This half term we are finding out 'new facts and information' about 'Space' and researching to find out the answers to our questions.

The children looked at the book 'The magic is inside you'.
They drew what it looked like when they felt happy or sad and created 'colour' art work to show this and their 'i like' picture.
They looked at the girl in the story and spoke about nice and nasty words.
The children also thought about words to describe themselves on their name poem.

The children have continued with their topic about 'Space'.
The children have done lots of creative tasks related to space - they have made junk model rockets, lego launching pads, collage moon buggies, sparkly solar systems and fantastic collage astronauts.
They will continue with this topic after half term.
The children are looking forward to finding out more things about Space.
Dance therapy - wk end - 4/2/22

The children in Learning Base 2 had their final 'Dance Therapy' lesson on Friday and had a great lesson.
They continued to imagine being different animals and moved around the classroom like them.
They worked together to form different movement frames.
They had a fantasitc lesson and they would like to say thank you to Toni and Katie for working with them.
Space learning - wk end - 30/1/22

The children in LB2 are having a fabulous time learning all about space.
They have watched rockets blasting off into space and have made lego versions of the launch pad structures that hold the rockets.
They have watched and talked about the satellites in space which allow the people on earth to look at our planet in great detail.
They watched the satellites completing an orbit around earth and looked at all the pictures generated.
The children have created their own work on the planets within our solar system as well as re-producing the galaxies in space.
The children are very excited to learn more about our special planet and look at ways of how we can protect it.

The children in Learning Base 2 have been introduced to their new topic for this term.
They are looking at the world that we live in. They will be concentrating on 'space' and talking about what this means.
This week they have looked at 'the map pobble picture' which is a map version of our globe.
They have looked at what the planet earth looks like from space.
They have watched videos of the satelite space station which orbits our planet and have talked about what 'the astronauts' can see from space.
They have also listened to a story told by an astronaut. It was read from the international space station.
Father Christmas visit to the Learning Base

The children have had a wonderful visit from father Christmas.
He left the reindeers and the sleigh on the roof of the school and came to visit Learning Base 2 children.
They all received a present off him and were all very happy.

The children had a fantastic learning opportunity on Tuesday. They had a visit from a 'paramedic'.
The children listened to their heartbeats through the stethoscope and did their oxygen levels.
They are looking forward to next Tuesday as the paramedic is coming back into the learning bases in her ambulance.

The children have dressed up in their spotty clothes today to raise money for 'children in need'.
They also made biscuits to fundraise for their outdoor project.
They designed their fantastic face biscuits and sold them to the children in school.

The children in the Learning bases have been doing 'Dance therapy' this half term and have had a fantasitc time.
They introduced themselves by passing a ball around the group.
They listened and responded to sounds.
They moved around like different animals. This week the children moved around like snakes, slithering under the different fabric.
The children also moved like a baby monkey. They enjoyed being rocked in the material like a mother monkey rocks her baby.
Mr.Padley came into the learning base and got involved with the children and had a turn in the baby monkey bed.
