Greenhill Academy: The Learning Base 1: Blog items

I have been really impressed with this weeks home learning when I have called home to the parents of the pupils in my class. William has been looking at the numbers 1 and 2 on the hand blender at home with Mum (maths focus was number recognition) and has he enjoyed picture and colour matching from his practical pack sent home. Ismaeel and Zidan have also enjoyed the colour matching activity sent home. Isa has been playing with more open ended objects such as a plastic box and bubbles and Zaydan has been singing along to the nursery rhyme ‘Miss Polly’ which was our focus rhyme this week :)

Learning LB1 - week ending 27.11.2020

This week in the learning base we painted our hands using different primary colours and made prints to take home - unfortunately some of them are still in the children's work trays as we were all sent home early yesterday. Miss Kelly with give these out when we return on Wednesday 9th December. Miss Kelly has spent today calling the parents and children at home to see how they are getting on with their home learning packs that were given out yesterday and to check all parents have access to and can access the school website. This week in the learning base, we have been exploring our feelings through emotions and gestures eg. pretending to cry when we are hurt and signing the word "sorry" and by hugging our friends to show empathy.

This week in the learning base we got creative with red paint and used our handprints to make poppies using paper plates. Today we observed the silence at 11am we decorated biscuits with red icing and a chocolate button. The children have taken both home with them on Wednesday.

This week in Learning Base 1 we have been learning about the nursery rhyme 'Twinkle, twinkle little star' which one of our children has recently become interested in.

We had a go at writing the letter 'S' in gold glitter and we also made a star wand using glue, glitter and straws.

This week we have continued our learning about The Very Hungry Caterpillar.’

The children have had a go at creating their very own patterns on a caterpillar (hand over hand from the adult) by using two colours e.g. red, green, red, green.

Outdoors we have been practising our rolling, catching and kicking using a ball and hula hoop.

Amazing learning in Learning Base 1 - wk beg - 28/9/2020

This week Learning Base 1 have been learning about The Very Hungry Caterpillar’.
The children have enjoyed watching the animated version of the story on the interactive whiteboard and have also been finger painting to create their very own very hungry caterpillars.
We have also been making the most of the dry weather outdoors and have been practising our catching and rolling skills whilst outside.
