14/7/23 - Curriculum week - Making lemonade

This week the children have enjoyed learning how to make lemonade.

First the chidlren watched the video of 'Blippi' making a lemonade stand to sell his homemade lemonade.

Next they designed their own lemonade stand and tried to make it using junk modelling materials. 

Then they tasted lots of different shop bought lemonades to decide which they liked the best. 

Finally they made their own lemonade using lemons, sugar and water. 

Their lemonade was sold at the Summer fayre. 

7/7/23 - Curriculum week - Homemade drinks

The children are looking forward to learning how to make homemade drinks. 

To start off the curriculum week all about 'Cooking' the children watched a video where Blippy made homemade lemonade to sell.

The children designed a homemade drinks stand.

They decided what drink they would like to make to sell at the school Fayre.

They enjoyed tasting the different lemonade drinks that can be bought in the shops. 

They are looking forward to making their own lemonade next week.  

30.6.23 - learning in the computer suite

The children have had a very strange week.

The classroom was flooded so we had to move out and do our learning in the Computer suite. 

The children have worked really hard to continue with their daily routine and tasks but have thoroughly enjoyed the extra time that they have been able to use the computers. 

All the children have completed drawing pictures on the computer using 2simple, solving maths problems on the topmarks website and have been investigating different programmes. 

All of the children have said that they had a lovely Eid celebrating with their family.

 

23/6/23 - All about India

The children have continued with their learning about dofferent transport in India.

In Literacy and topic they have looked at the differernt transport and designed their own form of transport 

In Maths they have been doing addition calculations and have used partition numerals and dienes to solve the calculation 

25.5.23 - we have got froglets

Date: 25th May 2023 @ 7:44am

The children have enjoyed learning about the life cycle of the frog.

They looked at the frogspawn that was collected from Mrs.Sullivan-Boardman's pond.

They watched a video explaining the life cycle of the frog and have watched the frogspawn changing.

The tadpoles developed their hind legs and now their front legs.

The children can't wait to see the froglets going back to their mum frog in the pond.

19.5.23 - life cycle of the frog

The children in learning base 2 have been continuing with their 'Life cycle of a frog' learning 

They observed the frogspawn collected from Mrs.Sullivan-Boardman's pond and watched videos showing what will happen over the next few weeks. 

The children have watched them gradually get bigger and eating the egg that they were in. 

They have watched the tadpoles now eating spinach and lettuce.

They are so excited as the tadpoles are now developing their hind legs. 

They can't wait until they become little frogs. 

12.5.23 - Transport in Bangladesh

Date: 12th May 2023 @ 4:33pm

The children have been learning about 'Transport in Bangladesh'. 

They have looked at the different vehicles and have described 'a Rikshaw' in more detail.

The children then drew their own Rikshaw and described it using Concept in print' words.

They then wrote about the Rikshaw.

5.5.23 - The King's Coronation

Date: 5th May 2023 @ 3:53pm

The children have been learning about the King's coronation which will be happening on the 6th May. 

They have watched videos, listened to stories and then produced some lovely artwork.

They cut and collaged the King's guard.

They created a collage of KIng Charles III in his Royal robes.

They also watched a video and discussed the Royal carriage. They then produced their own carriage. 

All their work was collated together, photographed and added to the front of a card which will be sent to the King.

The children are hoping they will receive a reply from KIng Charles III. 

28.4.23 - visit to Boomerang

The children in the learning bases had a fantastic trip to 'Boomerang' soft play centre in Bury.

They travelled in style on a large executive coach

All the children had fun investigating the different climbing equipement and the different slides. 

 

21.4.23 - Frogspawn to frog

The children in Learning Base 2 have been looking at the frogspawn that Mrs.Sullivan-Boardman brought from the pond in her garden.

They are so excited to hold the frogs before Mrs.Sullivan-Boardman takes them back to the pond. 

24.3.23 - My mum is special

The children in learning base 2 have been continuing their learning all about 'My mum'.

They were extending the learning that they were doing for Mother's Day. 

The children drew their mum wearing her favourite clothes and the talked about why their mum is special. 

They then read words and wrote captions to describe them. 

17.3.23 - Mother's day learning

The children in learning base 2 have been learning about Mother's day

They discussed what their mums do for them and why they love them

They then wrote an acrostic poem describing their mum

They then made these into cards for their mums.

Learning Base 2 - you have additional learning to the 'Victorian memorial in India learning which is added on the website weekly.

YOU have a SNOW day learning plan xxxx

1/. Look out of the window - What can you see?

If you can see any snow, please find some wellies, gloves, hat and scarf and your warmest coat

2/. Go and play outside

Jump in the snow and make footprints. Roll a snow ball and see if you can make it into a massive ball. Turn it into a snowman. 

What will you use for the eyes, nose and mouth??

3/. Come inside and have a nice warm drink

Talk to your parents about how playing in the snow made you feel. Were you excited, happy or even scared?

4/. Create a picture - draw, collage or paint a picture of playing in the snow

5/. Snuggle on the sofa reading your favourite books 

10.3.2023 - 'The Victoria memorial' in India

The children have been looking at buildings and gardens in different countries.

This fortnight they are looking at 'The Victorian memorial' in India. 

They looked at the pictures and videos of the Victorian memorial and described it.

They then read concepts in print words to describe it and then wrote a caption to add to the picture. 

Next week they will write an advertisement to describe it. 

3.3.23 - 'Polata palace' in China

The children have been looking at the 'Potala palace' in China. 

It is the highest Palace in China.

The children looked at pictures of the palace and described it.

They then designed their own palace and described the features that they had created.  

 

24.2.23 - Curriculum week learning - Room on the broom

The children have had a fabulous time this week. All their learning has been based around the story 'Room on the broom'. 

The children came into class on Monday to find a massive, dirty slimy swamp with eyes looking at them. 

They had to talk about they thought was in the swamp. 

They recalled the story that they knew about some animals that fell into a swamp - The room on the broom.

They then discussed what the creatures in the swamp might say and enjoyed acting out the story in different ways. 

The children created their own witches or wizards, cauldrons and spells. 

During music, they also created sounds to match the characters in the story.

The children in LB2 have been adding and subtracting this week in maths .

The children partitioned the numbers and made the amounts.

They have used dienes and numicon to do their calculations.

13.1.23 - Shalimar gardens

In Literacy, the children watched videos and looked at photos of 'Shalimar gardens in Lahore in Pakistan. 

They described what they saw in the garden.

They looked at Concept in print words and selected the words they needed to describe the gardens.

They then wrote sentences about the features of the gardens. 

In Maths, the children have been adding and subtracting using numbers up to 10, 20 and 50.

Happy New Year 

The children in LB2 came back to school ready and eager to learn.

During Literacy, the children talked about what they did and where they went during the Christmas holidays. They then looked at Inprint words to add to their picture. They then wrote about what they had done. 

The children had had a wonderful Christmas break from school and had enjoyed 

" going on holiday with my family", "going to winter wonderland", " doing the climbing on the wall", " going to my family house". 

We are all looking forward to learning this term.

Christmas learning - 16.12.22

The children have had a fantastic week making their hats, cards and placemats.

They made them all using a 'snowman theme'.

The placemats are like a snowstorm. 

The children had a lovely christmas dinner whilst listening to the christmas songs

9.12.22 - Winter fayre

The children in Learning Base 2 have been making their spectacular biscuits to raise money for out trip in April.

The children designed Christmas biscuits and had to decide which sweet treats they would use for the characters features. 

They designed and created 

  • Father christmas
  • Robins
  • Snowmen
  • Reindeers 

THEY looked fabulous and we sold 190 packets, so £190 raised towards our trip 

WELL done to everybody

The children have continued learning about different countries. They have looked at famous buildings in the different countries. 

They have read Concept in print words to describe the buildings and then wrote sentences about the buildings.

They have drawn some lovely detailed pictures of the buildings.

They then drew their ideal school and what they would like to see in it.

18.11.22 - Children in need

The children in Learning Base 2 have been decorating biscuits for children in need.

They looked at Pudsey's face and copied it onto the yellow iced biscuits. 

They loved describing the facial emotions of Pudsey - happy, sad, grumpy, afraid, excited.

 

They also came to school dressed in their spotty clothes to raise money for Children in need. 

4.11.22 - Going to school in China

The children looked at the pobble picture 'Going to school in China' this week in Literacy.

They looked at the pictures and videos showing the children's journey to school. It was a very dangerous journey.

Ask your children what they noticed. 

They then read words and added them to the picture, describing what they noticed. They then wrote sentences to describe the picture. 

 

In maths, the children have been working on different games on the ipads. They have enjoyed investigating

21.10.22 - Black history month

This week the children have been learning about 'Black history' month.

They joined in with the song

They looked at the artist - Sonia Boyce and reproduced some of her artwork 

 

The children listened to music and joined in by playing musical insruments. 

They then produced their own musical instruments
